Field narrows in London

Tennis | 25-11-11

The field is narrowing down in the ATP Tour Finals in London and with some surprising results along the way. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France defeated Rafael Nadal 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 to book his place in the semi-finals. Tsonga has battled through arguably what has been the tougher group and you cannot deny him a last four place after the fantastic tennis he produced against the Spaniard.

Nadal and Mardy Fish are the casualties in Group B and Federer along with Tsonga take their places in the last four. Group A is turning into a real battle and the shock loss by Novak Djokovic to David Ferrer has really opened up the group. Ferrer got on top of Djokovic from the start who clearly isn't over his injury and the end result of 6-3, 6-1 was deserved.

The top two in each group of four progress to the semi-finals and it looks almost certain that Ferrer will reach the last four after winning both his opening games so far with the other semi-finalist likely to come from Djokovic or Tomas Berdych. But these best of three set matches are leaving plenty of room for upsets.
