Big guns are all firing in Melbourne

Tennis | 18-01-12

All of the leading players have progressed to the last 64 of the Australian Open but to be fair then it would have been a massive shock for any of them to be eliminated. However all does not bode well for Andy Murray who struggled at times to beat his first round opponent Ryan Harrison from the USA after dropping the first set. All eyes and ears though have been on the supposed "feud" between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal regarding several issues.

Nadal wants the timing of the tournaments to be more of an issue as the players need to prepare for a life away from tennis and still be left with a reasonable physical condition. This is clearly a sore point for Nadal who has suffered more from injury than Federer has. The hectic schedule of the professional game does take a lot out of the players and that could play a huge role in who succeeds here in Melbourne.

Both Nadal and Federer are seeded to meet in the semi-finals and that match would be one to watch for if both players get that far. It is really difficult to see a winner of a grand slam these days coming from someone who isnt Djokovic, Federer or Nadal but Andy Murray just about has the game to win a slam if he can get the mental side of his game right. All of the big players are expected to come through their second round matches and so this could be the chance to record some easy profits.
