We are on the eve of the first Grand Slam event of the year in the Australian Open and Tennis betting will be of keener interest to punters over the next few weeks and don’t forget to look for some great Tennis odds from bwin.
What should generate massive interest is the women’s event as it sees the return of the two great Belgian players Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters. The depth of the games of both these players will certainly add a massive new dimension to this years Australian Open and they will be amongst the favourites from the off.
Kim Clijsters has been the most high profile of the two since here comeback winning the US Open at Flushing Meadow so that is going to give her tremendous confidence coming into this event seeing as she was the nearly girl for so long.
Then we have the Williams sisters Serena and Venus who will be three or there abouts but there are question marks surrounding the fitness levels of both of them these days. But both of them are so powerful when they are on top of their respective games that you would never count them out and especially Serena.
The other big potential winner for me is Maria Sharapova but once again if she is not moving well then she may struggle and she certainly has had fitness problems of late. Justine Henin has been playing really well and could be a potential winner here.
So it is difficult to make a case for anyone outside of this list of five although my list of five at the BDO Darts almost came unstuck last week but the eventual winner did come from that list. I can’t even make a case for anyone else as the mental toughness needed to win a Grand Slam is severe and when these five already have it then that presents a serious obstacle for anyone else.
