There are some key fixtures approaching this weekend in the Premier League which means that football betting will be on the mind of many people.

I think that the relegation dogfight may just prove to be very interesting this year with any of about eight clubs looking like they might go down. Looking at the top seven and taking them out of the equation, you can then see sides like Sunderland, Fulham and Stoke staying up.

But they were starting to pull things around anyway and I thought that Paul Hart was unlucky. Portsmouth travel to Sunderland this weekend and are priced at 4.60 with Sunderland at 1.75.

I think it is possible for Portsmouth to get something up at the Stadium of Light.

Almost forgot, watched some of the Champions League last night and it must be a long time since two English clubs lost on the same night. Liverpool have had so many defeats this season that I am starting to need a calculator.

I think that is 9 now in all competitions although I may be out by one as I have not checked and am doing it all from memory. Late goals again have cost them, both home and away to Lyon and again last night.

At least this time the defeat didn’t cost them anything except maybe some confidence. It must be hard for the fans who expected so much but I have said this before but they expect too much when it comes to the title……they are simply not good enough for that.

The Champions League came at the wrong time for them but it could be a blessing in disguise if Liverpool win the Europa League. Although there are some good teams entering this year from the Champions League.

Liverpool, Juventus, Marseille, Atletico Madrid, Wolfsburg to name but a few. So Liverpool still have an awful lot to play for, two cups and a top four place but being out of the title race by November tells its own story in regards how far behind the big two they are.
