Adelboden in Switzerland is the latest venue in the mens Giant Slalom World Cup. There have been some very impressive performances in Giant Slalom this season and Ted Ligety is one such skier who has been looking good all year. He is already the World Cup winner on top of being World Champion and so he could well be the one to beat here in Adelboden.

However before the race later on today then he is still behind the Austrian Marcel Hirscher in the overall standings and so he needs a good result today after Hirscher picked up maximum points by winning in Zagreb on Thursday. It is difficult to see the winner coming from anyone but these two great competitors and both of them have not finished outside of the top six in the opening four races of the season.

Ted Ligety has already tasted a World Cup victory this season as has Hirscher and it will be interesting to see who gets the better of who today. The start will be key and the first half of the course will prove to be the catalyst for who can claim overall victory. However as is the case in Giant Slalom, the whether can play a huge role and the forecast isn't good for this afternoon.
