All set for the final

Other Sports | 02-01-12

The scene is set for the richest prize in Darts tonight as the PDC World Championships reaches the final. Can we take any more excitement after two literally stunning semi-finals that both went down to the wire? Andy Hamilton reached his first ever final by beating ex-finalist Simon Whitlock in an epic match 6-5. It had looked at one stage that the Aussie would reach his second PDC final but Hamilton produced a stunning comeback and took the match.

The other semi-final had lots of controversy and defending champion Adrian Lewis came back from 1-5 down to beat James Wade 6-5. The match had continual interruptions as the players went off the stage because of a draught blowing across. One has to give credit though to James Wade because he was blitzing Lewis at that stage and could have stayed on.

Lewis will be a short priced favourite now for the final and rightly so. It is difficult to see Hamilton denying him a second title and the belief seems to be there from Lewis after his stunning comeback where he looked dead. His head had been seriously affected by what was happening on stage and had Wade stayed on stage and demanded that they play on then he would have surely won. But Lewis is on a role now that looks to be taking him to another title.
