Betting on Horse Racing is one of the most fascinating and also most complex areas in sports betting. Over the years I have have known bookmakers, odds compilers and professional punters.
It is an inevitable part of doing what I do. I suppose for me, it all started when I used to go and watch the Greyhound Racing as a little boy with my father as we had a Greyhound track in my home town.
It wasn’t until I was about 8 years old did I see my first racecourse which was Great Yarmouth although I was stood by the far side and apart from a brief view of the horse going past and the thunderous sound, there was little to see and I became bored.
Analysing horse races is a fascinating and also time consuming subject. It is also essential in most parts if you are going to try to compile a betting strategy to understand how odds are compiled and where value can be found.
betting tips abound in Horse Racing and listening to them is no bad thing as long as you show some intelligence in how you do it. Blindly following newspaper tipsters wouldn’t be sensible but even then, if you have absolutely no knowledge of racing whatsoever and you fancy a quick punt and you do not know what to bet on then this is a possible short cut.
But I always feel that the most satisfying way of winning money on Horse Racing is to analyse the form yourself. There is no better feeling than to know that you have analysed a race yourself and found the solution.
It is a bit like the difference between solving a crossword puzzle by looking in a dictionary for the answers and solving it yourself…..it is the sense of pride and achievement when you do the process without outside help.
Over the next few weeks I will be discussing more on how to look at races through completely different eyes and how to spot value as well. I will also be giving betting tips on certain races so do keep a look out for that.
see you soon
Carl
