Who will prevail at the WGC?

Golf | 02-11-11

This week sees the 2011 WGC HSBC Golf World Championship event commence and the field is packed full of the best players in the world. All of the seasons major winners are present but all four of them do not appear to be playing well going into this event.

However there are a number of world class players with the credentials to win this who may be worth a punt. You can get good odds on players like Nick Watney, KJ Choi, Dustin Johnson and Adam Scott. These are all proven winners coming off the back of a good season. With golf being an individual sport then being mentally right is very important.

So it then becomes critical to select players who are feeling good about their game and who have a game that has been solid all year. It is difficult to expect any player to just suddenly turn it on after a prolonged period of struggling for form. The first two rounds will be vital and in a field of this quality then getting away to a good start will be the difference between doing well and being in contention during the final day.
