The best golfers on the planet gather in Dubai this week in a race for a share of the $7.5 million dollar purse. Players have been competing in tournaments all year for prize money and ranking points for this end of season event and the leaders on the European Tour Race to Dubai feature all of the leading European contenders in the world rankings.

The three stand out players all year have been Luke Donald, Rory Mcilroy and Martin Kaymer. Much has been said about Donald's failure to land a major yet but too much emphasis is placed on winning majors. Consistency is the key and no golfer in the world has come close to matching the almost robotic feel of Donald's game.

This event will be played over four days with no cut and the top 15 players will share the prize money out of the 60 that will start. The first round gets underway on Thursday December 8th and runs until Sunday December 11th. Expect Luke Donald to make a strong run at this course and should be there on the leaderboard on the final day.
