The saga is almost at an end
Football | 13-08-11
So it finally looks like one of the longest transfer saga’s in the history of football is about to come to an end when Cesc Fabregas finally makes his move to Barcelona. It looks like the deal is almost done all bar the shouting and looks to be around the 40 million Euro mark with 6 million Euro’s being paid in a linear fashion based on how successful Barcelona are with Fabregas in the team. It is also reported that Fabregas himself is to pay a reported 5 million Euro’s out of his own salary.
This weekend sees the Spanish Super Cup taking place in Spain and so it looks like the deal will go through early next week and be confirmed on Monday or Tuesday. It also looks like Samir Nasri will be going to Manchester City soon as well as he is about to enter the final year of his contract. Both Nasri and Fabregas are not in the Arsenal squad for their opening game of the season and so Arsenal look to have a lot of money in the bank but will be without two of their most talismanic players for the new season. It also makes Arsenal look like a selling club and that does not put them into the same league as teams like United, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City.
To be honest I am getting a little bored by the whole affair because it has been clear that Fabregas was going to the Nou Camp and the only question left to answer was “when”?
