Any draw away to a Champions League side and a side as good as Tottenham would under normal circumstances be a good result. But when that draw comes during the worst run at Chelsea that I can remember then it is just another game that Chelsea have not won. That is yet another 2pts dropped and if Manchester United win their two games in hand then they would lead Chelsea by 6pts. That is staggering given that Chelsea had a 5pt lead not long ago. John Terry played yesterday and how they need him back and also Frank Lampard came on for the final 20 minutes which was another boost for Chelsea. I still think that technically Chelsea are the strongest side in the league but they are not that much stronger than Manchester United and Arsenal where they can have a huge blip like this and it is starting to become a very big blip now. Chelsea don’t just need a win now they need to get two or three good results on the bounce. They have a very difficult December coming up as well. Speaking of difficult December’s, for me it is difficult to see Avram Grant surviving the month if West Ham do not correct this run of results. I said at the time that their 3-1 win at home to Wigan was not the start of something good. That is just merely beating a team who are as bad as you at home. The Carling Cup win against United was good for morale but it cannot put points on the board in the league. You seem to hear the same old rhetoric from Grant at every interview. I thought he was a dodgy appointment at the time although I never expected West Ham to be bottom of the league in December. I thought that they had the experience to get themselves to mid-table. But sometimes you are just plain wrong about clubs just like I was about Blackpool. You seriously have to buy in to the thought now that Blackpool can stay up. Ian Holloway seems to be gambling to get wins more than most other managers and it is paying off with 22pts so far from 16 games.
