One step away from Wembley

Football | 23-01-12

Both Cardiff City and Crystal Palace go into action again on Tuesday with both teams being just one game away from a major Wembley final. The winners of this tie face either Liverpool or Manchester City. Palace go into this tie with a 1-0 lead from the first leg and even though they were underdogs going into this tie based on league position, that counts for very little in the heat of battle of a cup tie.

It was also interesting seeing the respective team selections for both of these teams league games last Saturday. Palace were away to Blackpool and fielded a very under strength side and were beaten 2-1. They are 13pts clear of the drop and so can afford to do so but Cardiff fielded a strong side as they are third in the league and going for automatic promotion.

Cardiff beat Portsmouth 3-2 in what was a tough game for them and it may just prove to be their undoing in the second leg tomorrow night if it becomes a long hard fought game which it is likely to be. Fatigue could become a factor later on in the game and especially going into extra time should that happen.
