League title betting

Football | 30-03-11
Here we are back on the verge of the Premier League restarting again and the final push for the title and relegation survival begins. You have to count Chelsea as having some sort of chance in the title race now. They trail United by 9pts with a game in hand and they still have to play them. A win in both of those games could see Chelsea a mere 3pts behind United. It is still asking a lot but they have a chance. As for Spurs and City then I really think that they are fighting for 4th at the moment. Chelsea were struggling for fourth a while ago but they are flying now and there is no way in my mind that Chelsea will finish outside of the top four. I still do not think that Arsenal can stand the intense pressure of the title run in and so United have to be huge favourites. But they have seriously needed this international break to try and get some injured players back again. It still may come too late to save them in the Champions League against Chelsea but they will be hard to stop for the title. At the bottom then I wouldn’t be surprised to see Blackburn Rovers sucked into the mire and in fact they are in it now for sure. I didn’t think that the move to get rid of Big Sam and replace him with Steve Keane was a sound one. Blackburn were doing fine until the reshuffle and as owners then you have to be careful about tampering with management structures when Premier League survival isn’t assured. Big Sam has a proven top flight record while what has Steve Keane got? To me that smacks of a move to get someone in place who they can manipulate and who doesn’t ask for and demand control over important affairs. Big Sam is a strong character and that may be not want the Venky’s group want. But when the going gets tough then you want a man like Big Sam at the helm. So who is my bet to go down? I think Wigan will go for sure but they are the only team who I would put money on to go down. You can make a case for all the clubs staying up. Blackpool score goals, Wolves have a good run in, Birmingham have the confidence of the Carling Cup win, West Ham are resurgent again and so on.
