It wouldn’t be the first time

I think that Arsenal have had better starts to the season than the one that they are looking to have. If they lose Fabregas and Nasri which looks increasing likely then they will be a weaker team for sure next season. Even if they blood some new players then they will take time to blend in. There is no doubt that Arsene Wenger has made Arsenal a lot of money in the transfer market and when you start to criticise him then you need to understand what he has done for the club to get them to where they are now. The money that they made in numerous Wenger transfer dealings has helped to underpin the move to the new stadium. Arsenal are a club that are behind the big two, shortly to become big three and who play highly attractive football at a high level and who have also made a small fortune in transfer dealings. This is the reality of the Arsenal situation and the sooner the Arsenal fans accept that they do not have the financial muscle to compete with the big three then the better it will be for them. To challenge for the title and the Champions League deep into the season year after year is a feat in itself and that cannot be underestimated. If you want to compare trophies then Arsenal looked to have failed on the face of things. But if Arsenal aggressively went after the Carling Cup and the FA Cup then they would be forced into paying the price elsewhere in the Champions League and the League which at this time they are not good enough to win and that will not change anytime soon. So the bottom line is that it really isn’t any surprise that Arsenal have gone six years without a trophy.
