Friday fixtures
There are two games being played in the FA Cup this evening as the event reaches the last 32 stage. Watford play Tottenham Hotspur at Vicarage Road while Everton play Fulham at Goodison Park. Watford have something of a history of doing well in this competition despite their historical league status. Tottenham will be favourites obviously but this looks a dodgy fixture for them.
The court case of their manager Harry Redknapp will hardly be helping the situation and the concentration of the players. Once again though much depends on what strength side Spurs look to field and they were fielding weaker sides in the Europa League and this led to their elimination from the event. But the prize money even for Europa League success is so small compared to the Premier League that it isn't any surprise that bigger clubs like Tottenham simply fail to really go for it.
Everton are another side with a tradition in this event and they entertain Fulham in what is one of the all Premier League ties. This is really one of those ties that could go either way as both teams have been very evenly matched over the past few years. Not since Everton were a top four club a few years ago has there been any gap between the respective merits of these two clubs. Fulham though are due a good cup run in this event and it would be great to see them reach a major final.
