Can Villas-Boas succeed at Chelsea?

Football | 23-06-11
So it is Andre Villas-Boas who is the next Chelsea manager and at 33 years of age has become one of the youngest managers in Premier League history and he is younger than some of the players. It also shows that you can be a successful manager without ever having been a player. He has followed a very similar path to Jose Mourinho but now the question remains of can he take the next big step that Mourinho took in 2004 when he joined Chelsea? They won back to back titles in one of the top two toughest leagues in Europe and he followed that by a historic treble at Inter Milan including a second Champions League. Villas-Boas knows Chelsea well having worked there for three years under Mourinho. The next big question is if he can handle the big names at Chelsea and take the next step of Europa League and Portuguese league into a bigger league and the Champions League. There have been some big name casualties of late at Chelsea who started very well but who then got the sack. One can think of Scolari and Ancellotti to name but two. I am undecided about Villas-Boas but he is inheriting a very good squad for sure although they are aging a little bit. He has already stated his intentions of taking at least two Porto players with him which is common for managers with players who they have worked with.
