Arsenal look certain to lose Fabregas
Football | 05-08-11
The only thing that looks to be blocking the move of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona is the simple process of Barcelona and Arsenal to agree on the numbers. Arsenal insist that they want £40 million which is forty five million euro’s. Barcelona have already had two bids turned down but it looks like they are getting close now. Rumours are coming out of Arsenal and Barcelona that their latest bid was at around £25 million plus an extra £5 million in future additions. It is also rumoured that Fabregas himself is putting around £2.5 million towards the deal so if this is true then he clearly wants to go.
Chances are that Arsenal are resigned to losing him and they will not like the idea of upsetting Fabregas and having him under perform next season when competition for a top four finish will be even tougher. So with the current bid not far short at around a combined £32.5 million then it only takes one final push or for Arsenal to maybe come down a little and the deal will be done. I think that Barcelona will be parading Fabregas as their player before the season starts. But what will that mean for Arsenal? Personally although they will have the money in the bank then I think that this could prove the catalyst that causes them to miss the top four next season. I can see Arsenal being in a really tough battle between them, Liverpool and Tottenham for that fourth Champion League spot.
