What did I say yesterday? No shocks in the FA Cup! Manchester United would beat Leeds Utd!

All changed of course yesterday with what Alex Ferguson called a “shocking” performance. Manchester United had a team on the field that was more than strong enough to do the job. Leeds Utd not only took the game to the Reds but they could have scored more goals.

Leeds could easily have come away from Old Trafford having bagged three or four goals. Beckford fired narrowly wide after being put through and Snodgrass then hit the upright from a free kick with the keeper well beaten.

But this is just a further indication that Man Utd are really struggling at the moment and especially defensively. The Leeds goal was a simple long ball over the top that should have been cut out.

I watched the game live and thought that Leeds did very well and another sign that they are far too good for the 1st Division. They were rewarded by another tough trip to Tottenham for the 4th round.

I also watched the West Ham vs Arsenal tie as well and thought that Arsenal really struggled but then again they did have several youngsters on the pitch. But as soon as Diaby and Nasri came on then they really dominated the game and two late goals saw them come through.

The top sides seemed to have avoided each other in the 4th round with Man City away at Scunthorpe, Chelsea away at Preston, Liverpool at home to Burnley (if they get past Reading) and Tottenham at home to Leeds Utd. Arsenal have the toughest tie of them all with yet another tricky away tie to Premier League opposition as they travel to Stoke City.

I think that yesterday’s two games ignited my passion for the competition again as both of them were great adverts for the FA Cup.

See you soon
