The 1st Test between Australia and India has already started in Melbourne and this contest will be one of the most eagerly awaited in the Cricket calender. The World Champions India against Australia who not so long ago dominated the world rankings in both five day and one day versions of the game. It should be an even series and the Boxing Day Test has always had a big tradition down under.

The opening sessions have shown there to be nothing between the two teams and Australia made a decent 333 in their first innings with most of the batsmen contributing decent totals but noboby going on to make a really big innings. India in reply are well poised to take the lead and stand on 214-3 and their much admired batting line up performed well once again.

After losing at home to England 3-1 this time last year then Australia will not want to record another home series defeat but getting the better of India will prove difficult for an Australian side in transition even if they have home advantage. This series could prove very interesting from a betting angle and could swing one way and then the other.
