4. Successful Matched Betting

Matched betting first came about some years ago and has literally exploded since then. It also offers the opportunity to bet live of course and that is a tremendous opportunity for skilled punters.
For me personally Harvey’s book was similar to that of Professor Phillips in that it looked at alternate ways to bet that were not based around the analysis of form.
The psychological aspects to betting are numerous and many and this is something that Harvey addresses. In fact this book is worth a read despite being written in 2002 and despite being about betting exchanges and matched betting.
In fact you can use Geoff Harvey’s alternate way of thinking to improve your own betting methodologies. While it does not get mentioned in the book, what we can see here is how millions of punters the world over basically follow the same methods give or take.
Using the bell curve distribution to find the “mean” betting and gambling knowledge of individuals. It finds normal distribution of data gathered around the mean. We can use the bell curve to find all sorts of things and gambling and betting knowledge is no different.
The greatest percentage of results are centered around the mean and we can use this mean to ascertain what reasons people use to bet. Finding alternative methods to the masses is basically going beyond the mean and this I feel is an essential step to punting success.
One of the factors that I feel people get wrong with reading gambling books is that they read them looking for obvious answers and solutions. They basically want something to copy and easy rules to follow. Using poker as an example, exactly the same happens here too when poker players read poker books.
What you should be trying to understand are the deeper gambling concepts and principles that are beneath the surface.
RATING……………..9/10
