No 8. The Definitive Guide to Betting on Football
Author…………..Kevin Pullein
Published………2009
Publisher……….Racing Post
The Racing Post to their credit have brought out a wonderful series of books on all aspects of sports betting. From betting exchanges and horse race betting, this edition looks at football betting.
A word about the author, Kevin Pullein has been the resident Racing Post expert on football for a number of years now and his overall analysis and opinions are some of the best that there have ever been in the Racing Post newspaper.
Pullein has a huge army of fans in the Racing Post and I have to say that even though I am not an avid football bettor, I am certainly one of them. Pullein explains all sorts of areas in this book but for me the best part of the book is where Pullein teaches how to work out what is likely to take place in a game of football.
Each section of the book has a theory section and also a practice section which is kind of like the hand examples that you find in poker books. What I liked about this book was in how it could appeal to readers who are shall we say for want of a better term, non mathematically inclined…..which includes me.
Mathematics and statistics are essential in poker and sports betting but sometimes some books go too far and you need qualifications in advanced mathematics to understand the equations.
I think what this book should show you is in how to think for yourself in football betting. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that you should blindly copy what is in this book, but you should definitely read it and take it on board.
RATING………..10/10
