Who will prevail in Brisbane?
There will be a lot of smart money going onto a fully charged Andy Murray going into the upcoming first Grand Slam of the year in Australia next week. First though Andy Murray has to play Alexandr Dolgopolov in the final of the ATP Brisbane International. Traditionally then Murray has always done well in the Australian Open but all eyes will be on him this year as a potential winner.
He has been working closely with multiple slam winner and Tennis legend Ivan Lendl in the hope that he can become mentally tougher in slams. It is debatable whether or not that will have had time to take effect but the signs have been good so far in this warm up event here in Brisbane. Murray easily brushed aside Bernard Tomic 6-3, 6-2 in his semi-final while Dolgopolov beat Gilles Simon of France.
The combination of winning this event and working with Lendl could be the catapult that finally takes Murray to his first slam title and he will never have a better chance. Both Djokovic and Nadal are not fully fit and Federer while still playing at a high level is surely on the way down. The big question though is if Murray can overcome the mental obstacles of getting so close so often and not winning. That shouldn't be an issue here though and he should cruise to victory in this final.
